Can you use a gas heater indoors?

Outdoor gas heaters cannot be used indoors. They are designed for ventilated outdoor areas, as they can emit carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide can be dangerous when it is produced in an unventilated indoor area. Supagas’ outdoor heaters can be placed near lower lying roofed areas such as patios, but spaces with mid to high ceilings are safest.

Can outdoor heaters be left out in the rain?

Some outdoor heaters are waterproof, which means they can be left in the rain. However, others may be water resistant - this means they can only withstand short term exposure to water.

How effective are outdoor heaters?

Outdoor heaters work best when positioned in the middle of an outdoor area, providing several square metres of radiant heat.

How do I turn on a gas heater?

Check that the gas supply valve is turned on. Press and turn the control knob to the PILOT position. Hold down the knob for 30 seconds. As you do this, press the igniters button several times until the pilot flame is lit. Wait 20-30 seconds before releasing the control knob. If the pilot flame goes out, wait 5 minutes before repeating this process. If connecting a new gas bottle, wait a few minutes after turning on the supply valve before turning the heater on.

How long does a gas heater last?

A gas bottle in an outdoor heater can last up to 12 hours without needing to be replaced. Burning at a lower heat will increase this time.

Are electrical or gas heaters more economical?

Gas heaters can heat larger outdoor areas in a shorter amount of time compared to electrical heaters.
